The Bronfman Center is recruiting a team of interns to expand our reach, build sustainable communities, and shape what Jewish life looks like on campus.
In return interns gain:
- Leadership training, skill development, and mentorship
- Experience in relationship-based engagement, community organizing, and project management
- A stipend
**note on NYU Welcome** All interns must serve as Welcome Ambassadors. Students may choose to serve as a Welcome Ambassador without serving in a formal internship role.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until May 13th. All applicants will be interviewed for their position and receive an update on their acceptance by the end of June.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:The expectations and responsibilities of each internship differ. They are as follows:
1. Welcome Ambassador
(one month volunteer commitment during NYU Welcome)- Help plan and execute Welcome events hosted by the Bronfman Center
- Connect with and engage students new to the Bronfman Center during Welcome
- Attend a one day training in August prior to Welcome
2. Campus Engagement Intern [CEI]
(year long commitment)- Build meaningful relationships with 60+ Jewish students throughout the year
- Staffing one Shabbat per month
- Attend monthly leadership trainings and 1:1 check ins with staff supervisor
- Track, manage, and update information about your engagements in a timely and consistent manner
- Recruit for significant seasonal learning programs, trips, and marquee events
- Regularly attend BC programming, including Shabbat/holidays, club events, and special programs
3. Service Engagement Intern [SEI] (year long commitment)
- Participate in at least 10 acts of individual service and learning.
- Engage 25 students through an act of service and learning (can be all at once or in smaller gatherings throughout the year)
- Attend monthly cohort meetings that will include social justice learning, brainstorming programming, problem solving as a group, and celebrating each other's accomplishments
- Meet for a check-in with staff supervisor every two weeks
- Connect with community service opportunities happening around campus and NYC (NYU service and leadership, greek life, community partners)
4. b|hive storytelling intern (year long commitment)
- Produce video, photo, audio, and editorial content that elevates the diverse narratives of the Bronfman Center
- Each intern will apply for a specific role (photo, video, audio, social media, graphic design, building/aesthetics, or writing)
- Pitch and workshop new story ideas, collaborating with other b|hive interns and community stakeholders
- Attend weekly b|hive workshops (alternating between team meetings and 1:1s with staff supervisor)
- Attend NYU Hillel events to capture content and build new story leads and relationships
5. Israel/Birthright (semester long commitment)
- Each intern will apply for a specific role (Birthright, Israel on campus, Israeli on campus, Kol Yisrael intern)
- Take a minimum of 10 students on 1:1s to recruit for Birthright/ Kol Yisrael
- Plan and attend at least 3 Birthright recruitment events
- Connect students to Israel opportunities on and off campus
- Attend 1 weekly meeting (alternating between team meetings and 1:1s with staff supervisor)
- Join the January 2024 NYU Birthright trip (if you have not already been on a Birthright trip)
- Help coordinate Israel events around campus
- Participate in Kol Yisrael

JLF (semester long commitment)- Attend weekly JLF classes and class-prep meetings with your educator(s)
- Manage logistics (attendance, weekly emails, picking up and putting away food, setting up and putting away the space) and facilitate icebreakers and texts during class
- Build relationships with class participants through 1:1s and an intern-organized social event
- Participate in monthly intern cohort trainings and 1:1 check-ins with staff supervisor
7. Disability Learning Fellowship (semester long commitment)
- Support the Disability Learning Fellowship, which explores disability and chronic illness through Jewish texts and ideas
- Attend weekly classes and class-prep sessions with the educator, help facilitate text and ice breakers
- Manage logistics (attendance, weekly emails, meal set-up)
- Build relationships with class participants through 1:1s
- Opportunity to support BC accessibility initiatives if desired
8. Global Ambassador (semester long commitment)
- Plan and execute at least two events for students at your study away site
- Connect with and engage Jewish students on an individual level
- Support Student Affairs professionals at your study away site in better supporting Jewish student needs at the campus
- Participate in 2 intern cohort trainings and 2 1:1 check-ins with staff supervisor throughout the semester
