Testimonials

Onward Israel provided me the opportunity to construct a meaningful experience in Israel. I was able to hone in on my technical skills at my internship at an internet marketing startup in Tel Aviv, while at the same time exploring Tel Aviv with my friends and learning about Israel by being a part of it. I came back from my summer possessing an in-depth grasp of the internal issues that Israel is constantly grappling with, a better understanding of how I want to lead my Jewish life (and my everyday life too), and an appreciation for the the quarks of Tel-Aviv that only a local could pick up on. I valued spending time with other like minded individuals – we all share a common love for Israel and being Jewish, and this is not something that is often times uniting on many college campuses, at least not on mine.

I can honestly say that the summer I have had with CLIP Israel has the best summer of my life. I have been working for Peace Now/ שלומ עכשיו for the past eight weeks. I love my job and all of my coworkers. I go to work each and every day knowing that I’m helping to make a difference in Israel and the lives of both Israelis and Palestinians. It was my first political internship, and it showed me that I definitely am on the right path for my interests and major. It inspired me to want to look into journalism, as well as be trained to be a translator. Here I learned the importance of communication and understanding.

On CLIP, I was given the opportunity to meet 38 other New York Jews I had never met before. We had potlucks, we went out together and we got to experience being immersed in Israeli culture together. CLIP also took us on educational programming that allowed me to see a lot of current social issues and different aspects of Israeli culture. I have come out of this program understanding all of Israel, the good, the bad, and the in between. Doing so has given me a new perspective and a new passion for this place that I can now also call my home.

Overall, I have to say that I am truly blessed to be chosen to have this amazing experience. I can’t wait to see my friends and family who are excited to see just how “Israeli” I have become. Leaving though, will definitely be difficult.
